All applicants must be diplomates in good standing of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.  Diplomates of ABIM, ABP, and ABFP must submit applications to their respective boards.

Physicians attain certification in the subspecialty of Sports Medicine by meeting the requirements set forth in the Sports Medicine Eligibility Criteria for Certification and Recertification, by fulfilling specific credential requirements of their primary board, and by successfully completing the Sports Medicine subspecialty certification examination.
