At its winter 2008 meeting, the ABEM Board of Directors elected two new directors, from a list of nominees submitted by Emergency Medicine organizations and individuals. The Board elected Francis L. Counselman, M.D., and Barry N. Heller, M.D., to the Board of Directors. 

Dr. Counselman is the Chair, Emergency Medicine Residency, Department of Emergency Medicine, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, Virginia.

Dr. Heller is the Assistant Director, Emergency Medicine, St. Mary Medical Center, Long Beach, California.

Dr. Counselman and Dr. Heller will attend the summer 2008 Board of Directors meeting as observers and their terms will begin at the close of the meeting.
