Register

Candidates with approved applications register and pay the exam fee online through their ABEM Initial Certification Page.

Ensure your Medical Licensure is in Good Standing

• Review the ABEM Policy on Americans with Disabilities Act.
• If any of your licensure information changes prior to your appointment to take the Examination, please update the information through your ABEM Initial Certification Page

Submit ADA Accommodations

If you need an accommodation for the Qualifying Exam, please submit your written request immediately by filling out this form or emailing qualify@abem.org. There is limited seating for candidates testing under special circumstances.

If you request accommodations under the Policy on Americans with Disabilities Act or the Guidelines on Courtesy Modifications Requests (e.g., for temporary conditions, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, crutches, or medical equipment), ABEM must schedule your exam appointment for you. Pearson VUE cannot work directly with you to schedule or change appointments if you are testing under special circumstances.

Schedule Your Appointment

Once you are registered, you will receive an email from ABEM explaining how to schedule your appointment at Pearson VUE. You must then schedule a specific eight-hour examination appointment, during the five-day testing window, at a testing center near you. Locate the nearest Pearson VUE testing center at www.pearsonvue.com/abem/locate.

To increase your chance of receiving the appointment of your choice, schedule your examination as soon as possible. You may schedule your appointment through the Pearson VUE at www.pearsonvue.com/abem, or by calling 877.378.8378. Exam scheduling closes 24 hours before the date you want to take your examination.

Rescheduling

If you wish to reschedule your appointment, call Pearson VUE at 877-378-8378.

If you are unable to take the exam, you may obtain a refund of your exam fee, less a 10 percent administrative fee, by doing the following:

1. Cancel your examination appointment with Pearson VUE no later than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.
2. Notify ABEM in writing that you cancelled your appointment with Pearson VUE and request the fee refund by the day before the last day of the testing window.

Maintain Email Address and Contact Information with ABEM

Your current email, mailing address, and other contact information is needed to reach you during the certification process.

Update your personal information through your ABEM Initial Certification page. Select “Account” in the upper-right corner, then select “Personal Information.”
