Residency Program Access to LLSA Tests
The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) now allows access to the Lifelong Learning Self-Assessment (LLSA) test content to Emergency Medicine residency programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for educational purposes. Beginning with the 2012 LLSA test, slides of LLSA test questions will be made available annually to residency directors who complete a license agreement and pay a nominal fee of one dollar ($1). The LLSA test provided will be a static, non-functional copy that can be displayed in large or small group settings and used as a tool for review and discussion.
Although direct access to the active online LLSA test and scoring will continue to be limited to ABEM diplomates and former diplomates attempting to regain certification, it is the Board’s hope that having access to annual LLSA test content will provide residency programs with a useful teaching tool to enhance the residents’ educational experience and facilitate their progress toward ABEM certification.
