ABEM Director Recognized for Her Research and Work on HIV, Hepatitis C, and the Opioid Crisis

Yvette Calderon, M.D., Chair of the department of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Isreal Hospital and current member of the American Board of Emergency Medicine Board of Directors is a recipient of Crain’s 2019 Notable Women in Health Care. Crain’s Notable Women in Health Care celebrates an industry uniquely shaped by women. Honorees include exceptional clinical and administrative leaders, entrepreneurs, health care providers, physicians and scientists. 

"Crain's recognition of my life’s work is such an honor. My research focuses on building programs that benefit the underserved community. Building interventions that identify HIV and Hepatitis C have been the primary areas of my research. Currently, I’m working on introducing harm reduction models into the Emergency Department to try and eliminate the opioid crisis."
