The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) is pleased to announce the selection of David Yang, M.D., M.H.S., as
the 2024-2025 J. David Barry, M.D., American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Visiting Scholar.
Dr. Yang's current research focuses on addressing disparities in care. His project for the ABMS Visiting Scholars program will focus on Anti-Asian Racial Discrimination and Burnout in Asian American Emergency Resident Physicians.
David Yang, M.D., M.H.S., is a Clinical Instructor at the Yale University Department of Emergency Medicine. He earned his BS in biomedical engineering and BSAS in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He attended medical school at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Dr. Yang graduated from an Emergency Medicine residency and earned his Master's in Health Sciences at Yale University. He recently graduated from an Emergency Medical Services fellowship through Yale University and a research fellowship through the Yale Emergency Scholars.
Nationally, Dr. Yang has served as Mental Health Co-Chair for the Asian American Pacific Medical Students Association and on the Equity and Inclusion Committee with the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine. At the local level, he works closely with the sexual assault forensics committee.

The Visiting Scholars Program supports the research of early-career physicians and research professionals and facilitates leadership development through engagement with the ABMS and the broader medical community. ABMS Visiting Scholars’ research contributes to the medical literature that supports the development and ongoing assessment of specialists who positively impact the quality, safety, and value of patient care. The year-long ABMS Visiting Scholars Program is ideal for individuals looking to positively impact their profession as well as specialty certification through research.
