Call for Applications: Lifestyle Medicine Practice Analysis Task Force (PATF)

The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) is seeking one volunteer to serve on the American Board of Preventive Medicine’s (ABPM) Practice Analysis Task Force (PATF) for the Lifestyle Medicine Focused Practice Designation (FPD). The Task Force will conduct a practice analysis to establish the initial content outline and examination blueprint for the Lifestyle Medicine FPD and provide subject matter expertise throughout the development process.
Applicant Criteria
Applicants must be ABEM-certified physicians who are current in ABEM’s Continuing Certification program and have demonstrated experience or expertise in Lifestyle Medicine through one or more of the following:
- Clinical practice
- Education or curriculum development
- Research and scholarship
- Program leadership or administration
- Health system, population health, or wellness initiatives
- Professional service or advocacy related to Lifestyle Medicine
Applicants should be able to provide the perspective of Emergency Medicine while collaborating with representatives from other specialties. ABPM has indicated that nominees should have a background in Lifestyle Medicine and be expected to meet future eligibility requirements for the designation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Participate in PATF meetings and discussions.
- Review and provide feedback on materials developed during the practice analysis process.
- Contribute subject matter expertise regarding the knowledge, skills, abilities, and professional activities associated with Lifestyle Medicine.
- Represent the perspective of Emergency Medicine throughout Task Force deliberations.
Time Commitment
The PATF is expected to convene beginning in February 2027 and continue work throughout 2027. Participation is anticipated to include virtual meetings, independent review of materials between meetings, and one or two in-person meetings. ABPM will cover travel, lodging, and meal expenses associated with in-person meetings.
