Adrian Haimovich, MD, PhD, Selected as the Next J. David Barry, MD, ABMS Scholar

The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) is pleased to announce the selection of Adrian Haimovich, MD, PhD, as the 2025-2026 J. David Barry, MD, American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Scholar.  

Dr. Haimovich is an attending physician in Emergency Medicine and Director of Geriatric Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. His current research is at the intersection of artificial intelligence, electronic health record interventions, and geriatric emergency care. His project for the ABMS Scholar Program is titled: Assessing Emergency Physician Decision-Making Under Uncertainty: A Vignette-Based Approach to Admission/Discharge Tendencies.

 

Adrian Haimovich, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. He earned his BS in Applied Mathematics at Columbia University Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science in New York City. He attended Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, where he received his MD and PhD. Dr. Haimovich graduated from the Emergency Medicine residency at Yale School of Medicine. 

The ABMS Scholar Program supports the research of early-career physicians and research professionals and facilitates leadership development through engagement with the ABMS and the broader medical community. ABMS Scholars’ research contributes to the medical literature that supports the development and ongoing assessment of specialists who positively impact the quality, safety, and value of patient care. The year-long ABMS Scholar Program is ideal for individuals looking to positively impact their profession, as well as specialty certification through research.
