As the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) celebrates the 45th anniversary of being recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties as a medical specialty, we look back on our achievements and forward to new challenges. ABEM continually honors all who keep us moving forward and take steps to monitor and improve our certification process for Emergency Medicine physicians. The certification process is our main priority as it represents the highest professional credential in Emergency Medicine, delivering the gold standard and the most current quality care from physicians to patients.
We reflect on the tireless efforts of the respected emergency physicians whose care and knowledge impact their communities and beyond. Their high standards communicate a high level of protection and trust for the patients who enter emergency departments.
