• EM Model

    The Model of the Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine (EM Model) serves as the basis for the content specifications for all ABEM examinations. It is reviewed by the EM Model Review Task Force in the spring of each odd-numbered year. Each version of the EM Model is available in PDF format by clicking one of the links below.

    ABEM will use the 2011 version of the EM Model to develop examinations beginning with the fall 2014 examinations.

    In the 2011 EM Model, all changes that resulted from the 2011 EM Model Review Task Force are summarized in Figure 1. The changes have been integrated into the document and are available in Word and PDF formats.
