• EM Model

    The Model of the Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine (EM Model) serves as the basis for the content specifications for all ABEM examinations. It is reviewed by the EM Model Review Task Force in the spring every three years. The next review is scheduled for spring 2019. Each version of the EM Model is available in PDF format by clicking one of the links below.

    ABEM is currently using the 2013 version of the EM Model to develop examinations. ABEM will use the 2016 version of the EM Model to develop examinations beginning with the fall 2019 examinations. 

    In the 2016 EM Model, all changes that resulted from the 2016 EM Model Review Task Force are summarized in Figure 1. The changes have been integrated into the document and are available in Word and PDF formats.
